perform to Push
Bringing the techniques of elite athletes to your pregnancy journey.
Let’s flourish together.
Meet your instructor
I am a sport psychology consultant living in Ireland who loves working with athletes and performers on a day-to-day basis, and also a new-ish mom to one!
Having navigated a challenging labour and postpartum period myself, I am familiar with the numerous hurdles we might face while pregnant and during our own rebirths as mothers.
In the depths of my own challenges, I turned to what I knew best - sport and performance psychology. And thus, Push to Perform was born in the depths of postpartum growth.
With expertise in sport, performance, & exercise psychology, extensive experience in wellbeing consulting, as well as a background in body image and self-concept research, I created a course covering a number of relevant mental skills, positive psychology techniques, and body image awareness to support you on your pregnancy and childbirth journey.
I look forward to supporting you all on your own journeys.
What you’ll learn on the course
-
Learn the mental skills and techniques of successful athletes to better cope with fears and stress during pregnancy, mentally prepare for childbirth, and support your wellbeing postpartum.
Examples of course topics: finding your strengths, mastering your focus, self-talk, mindfulness, self-compassion, goal-setting
-
Reflect on your values, strengths, and goals for pregnancy and labour using evidence-based materials created by a Sport Psychologist. Upon completion of the course, you will have a toolbox of adaptable coping strategies and more confidence for the journey ahead of you.
-
Optional live groups online are open for any participant to join, where you will find more personal support and interpersonal connection with others on the same journey as you. It’s a supportive community for those interested in mental skills for pregnancy and labour and an opportunity to mindfully reconnect with the present moment, and practice relaxing the body and mind.

I would love to provide all my services for free because I firmly believe that people from all walks of life should have access to evidence-based materials to support health and wellbeing (and I do pro bono work every year with this in mind). However, for this course to be sustainable within my consultancy, a financial cost for the end user is necessary. It will allow for continuous growth and updating of the programme and covers backend costs such as website maintenance and access to academic materials. If you are interested in learning more about sport psychology for free, feel free to check out my Instagram @mckenzie_sportpsych.

Yes! As research about pregnancy, sport, and mental skills continues to grow the content of Perform to Push will grow along with it, keeping you as up to date as possible while participating. Right now, the programme is in its infancy, and will continue to improve in both technical quality and research basis.
